SaaSiest Community Member of the Week – John Robertsson 🩷

This week’s SaaSiest Community Member of the week is John Robertsson, Chief Product Officer at Mediaflow. John has been a familiar face in the SaaSiest community for years! A member of the SaaSiest Executive Network for four consecutive years, he’s also joined us at several SaaSiest events – from Malmö to Amsterdam and even one of our local meetups. Safe to say, John knows a thing or two about being SaaSy 🤩

We asked John a couple of personal questions; see his answers below:

🧩 Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t find on your LinkedIn profile

“I have a strong tendency to obsess over new interests until I feel I’ve learned everything I can about them. My motivation is usually the same: finding better, faster, and more elegant ways of doing things, while also understanding how to do them “the right way.”

That curiosity has taken me into everything from cooking, cocktail making, photography, woodworking, gardening, and lawn care to the surprisingly deep world of cleaning and polishing leather shoes.

The same applies to sports. I can happily spend hours listening to podcasts about the history of Formula 1 or long-form biographies of football players.

Right now, all of that curiosity has found the perfect outlet in AI. It combines everything I enjoy: creativity, problem-solving, continuous learning, and making things more efficient. It often results in late nights experimenting with new tools, building prototypes, and seeing just how far the technology can be pushed.”

💼 What’s the best part of your job?

“The best part is simply that it’s incredibly fun.

I’m fortunate to work with an exceptionally talented team of smart, ambitious people who are building both a company and a product together. There’s something deeply rewarding about taking an idea from a whiteboard discussion all the way through planning, design, development, testing, and launch—and then seeing customers genuinely benefit from what you’ve created.

I’ve been part of this journey for almost eight years. During that time, we’ve grown from a small Swedish company with nine employees and around 150 customers to nearly 65 people serving more than 1,000 customers across multiple countries.

Whether it was naïve optimism or genuine conviction, we’ve always believed we could achieve our vision. Seeing that vision gradually become reality has been incredibly satisfying. I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed almost every step of the journey, and I see no reason why that won’t continue.”

🤝 What does it mean for you to be part of the SaaSiest Community?

“In day-to-day work, it’s easy to keep your head down and focus on execution. Sometimes you forget that you’re part of a much larger community. Having the opportunity to step back and meet people from other SaaS companies is incredibly valuable. Not only for inspiration, but also as a sounding board for real-world challenges. Sometimes you leave with practical advice; other times you simply gain confidence that you’re already heading in the right direction.

As you progress in your career and your company grows, you’re constantly approached by different executive networks and communities, many of which seem primarily designed to maximize membership fees. That has never really appealed to me, so I consciously avoided those kinds of groups.

Then I discovered SaaSiest.

It almost felt like the opposite: a community whose purpose is genuinely to give back. Thomas and Daniel, along with everyone involved, have created an environment centered on learning, sharing knowledge, and helping each other succeed.

That is incredibly rare. It makes many other conferences, meetups, and executive networks feel almost obsolete. Being part of a community of brilliant people who put competition and prestige aside in order to make everyone better together is something I genuinely value.”

Thanks, John, for being part of the SaaSiest Community 🩷
